The best wedding venues in Canton and Stark County

Vineyards, restored barns, a castle and a garden, all within a short drive of downtown Canton. Here's what each one offers and what to ask on your tour.

Canton and the towns around it have more wedding venues than most couples expect. Within a short drive you can go from a Tuscan style vineyard to a restored 1875 barn, a stone castle, a woodland garden and a stretch of quiet farmland. This guide walks through the Stark County venues I think are worth a tour, with the practical details that help you compare them.

I put this list together from what each venue publishes on its own website. I looked for places that are actively taking inquiries for upcoming seasons, and I left out anything I could not confirm. If you are still deciding on a style, start with what matters most to you: guest count, an on site ceremony, lodging, or the freedom to bring your own caterer. Those four things narrow the list fast.

Before you tour

The details below come from what each venue shares publicly. They change often, so confirm current numbers and availability with the venue directly.

Vineyards, estates and modern event spaces

Gervasi Vineyard, Canton

Gervasi is the venue most people picture when they hear "Canton wedding." It is a full resort with a vineyard, a lake, restaurants and overnight rooms, so your guests can stay right where you celebrate. The venue lists three main wedding spaces. The Pavilion is an open air space inspired by a Tuscan villa, available May to October, and it holds up to 300 guests. The Villa Grande is an indoor ballroom and atrium for up to 120 guests. The Conservatory is a greenhouse for small weddings of up to 40, and there is also a tree grove for intimate outdoor ceremonies.

If your guest list is large and you want everything in one place, Gervasi is hard to beat. Book early for summer and fall Saturdays.

The Reserve at Stone Creek, North Canton

The Reserve is a newer building with a floor to ceiling fireplace and a floating split staircase with a waterfall that runs through several levels. The venue says it seats up to 275 guests with no minimum, and you get the building and grounds to yourselves for the day. Ceremonies can happen outside on a raised pergola beside a pond, or inside at the base of the grand staircase.

A few details I like: the ceremony costs nothing extra if you hold it on site, there is a free rehearsal hour on a Wednesday or Thursday evening, and couples can borrow decor from their Something Borrowed Room. The Reserve does not cater, so you choose a caterer from their list or bring an approved one. Bar service has to come through the venue.

Barns and farm venues

Haymaker's Mill 1875, North Canton

Haymaker's Mill is a rustic barn from 1875 that has been restored into an event space with indoor and outdoor areas. The upper level Grand Oak Ballroom seats up to 225, and the lower level Mill Room, the Hidden Falls Pavilion and a patio with fire pits give you room to move guests between the ceremony, cocktail hour and dinner. There is a bridal suite and a separate house on the property for getting ready.

The venue posts its wedding pricing by day of the week and by season, with May to October as its busiest months. Friday and Sunday dates cost less than Saturdays, which is worth knowing if you have some flexibility.

The Barn of Canal Fulton, Canal Fulton

This is a modern barn on 10 acres in western Stark County. The 6,200 square foot barn and loft holds up to 250 guests for a wedding, and it has heat and air conditioning, an upstairs bridal suite with its own bathroom, and a groom's suite on the main floor. Tables, chairs and tablecloths are part of the setup, and the venue offers bar packages. They post open dates for 2026 and 2027 on their website, which makes it easy to check before you call.

The Stables at 1885 Farms, North Lawrence

1885 Farms takes a different approach. Your ceremony is in the woods under a covered gazebo, and the reception is in a 4,200 square foot canopy tent beside a pond, with a paved floor, a dance floor and a custom bar. The package includes two nights in The Stables Estate, a 10,000 square foot home on the property, so your wedding party can stay together all weekend.

The farm hosts weddings May to October for up to 200 guests and lists flat pricing with taxes included: $11,500 for 2026 dates and $12,000 for 2027 dates. That kind of clear number is rare, and it makes budgeting simple.

Nickajack Farms, North Lawrence

Nickajack's Mane Barn is a renovated horse facility with a temperature controlled interior, indoor bathrooms and a full length bar. It holds up to 200 guests, and The Chapel, an outdoor ceremony spot built from old barn wood, has bench seating for the same number. The farm lists seven spots on the property for photos and special moments. For small weddings, there is an Elopement Day package for up to 50 guests from January to April, starting at $1,000.

Historic and garden venues around Alliance

Glamorgan Castle, Alliance

Yes, Stark County has a castle. Glamorgan Castle hosts weddings and events through the Castle Crusaders, a group whose rental fees go toward restoring the building. The castle does not publish capacity or pricing online, so email the Castle Crusaders for current details. If you want a setting that feels like nowhere else in Ohio, put it on your tour list. I share more about filming in town on my Alliance wedding videographer page.

Beech Creek Botanical Garden, Washington Township

Beech Creek sits on a 181 acre site in Stark County's Washington Township, near Alliance. It is a great fit for couples who want a garden ceremony and a relaxed, budget friendly day. The garden lists clear options and fees:

  • Secret Garden ceremony site, seating about 185, for $525
  • Woodland Pavilion for a ceremony or a reception of up to about 96, with tables and chairs included
  • Wildlife Observation Deck for a very small ceremony or reception

Ceremony sites are reserved for 4 hours and reception sites for 6 hours. You can use any caterer, cook your own food or bring a food truck, and alcohol needs permission ahead of time.

How I would compare these venues

Once you have a short list, a few questions will tell you a lot about each place:

  • What is the rain plan for an outdoor ceremony, and what does that space look like when it is full?
  • How many hours do you get, and when can vendors arrive to set up?
  • Does the venue cater, require a caterer from a list, or let you bring your own?
  • Where will you get ready, and how far is that from the ceremony spot?
  • Where does the sun set relative to the ceremony and portrait areas?

That last one matters more than people think. The best light of the day is the half hour before sunset, so ask your venue where couples usually take portraits in that window. If you are planning around Canton, my Canton wedding videographer page has more on how I plan a day here.
